Installing Spotify in your brand new Ubuntu is very easy. Just avoid reading the standard instructions and stick to this post to install Spotify with good sound quality.
The fact is that if you follow the standard instructions you will end up installing wine instead of wine 1.2 hence resulting in bad streaming and bad sound quality in general. So forget about Spotify instructions regarding wine and install wine 1.2 in order to get things right from the very beginning. So let’s go to Administration> Synaptic Package Manager and search wine:
Select install in wine 1.2 (it will install wine1.2-gecko automatically)
And then simply go to the download page of Spotify windows software,download it, and execute the install. That’s it. Click on Spotify link on Applications>Wine>Programs>Spotify and you are ready to go!
